Dunny Madness!

When I got home today there were two – yes TWO – packages waiting for me. I was so excited I could barely contain my geeky self! Srsly. One was a very tall box and one was a much smaller rather plain box. What could possibly be in them you ask?
I will post about the new geeky electronic thing that came in the big box later. The smaller box is WAY cooler than that. Did I just say that?!?
Why yes, yes I did.
Dunny, I’m Home
My Lucky Dunny has returned!! He was the beautiful black Lucky Dunny, signed by Shane Jessup at SDCC this year. The signature was smeared because the ink hadn’t dried, ruining the signature. I was very sad – no really – devastated. James went to a great deal of trouble to obtain this wonderful Dunny for me and I ruined it. I think that the shiny surface kept the ink from properly curing. But I digress.
My dearest hubby worked miracles and obtained a new signed Lucky Dunny – only this time the insert was also signed. Yay for me!!
But that’s not all!
I was very happy to see Lucky. The Village has missed him! What I wasn’t expecting was a surprise that was tucked into the box — a new 2009 Series 3-inch Dunny by Shane Jessup! W00T! And it was signed! W00T! W00T!!
On a side note: The Vinyl Village is getting a bit crowded these days. After recent discussions with James I believe that the Village is being relocated (more on that later).

Retrospection and Introspection
Wednesday, September 11, 1991 8:15 AM
I didn’t count fingers and toes. There were doctors and nurses to do that. While the medical staff weighed, measured and fussed over you, I struggled to grasp the enormity of my responsibilities.
In those first moments I was humbled by the realization that everything you were going to be depended largely on how I lived my life, what examples I set for you, what experiences I shared with you. I was filled with the overwhelming urge to tell you everything I knew, everything I felt, hoped and dreamed for you. I wanted to shield you from the world, to protect you and nurture you.
And I was scared to death.
Eighteen years later I am once again filled with the same urge, as if I can somehow share my hard-learned life lessons with you in a way that will save you from needing to learn the same things. Unlike eighteen years ago, I know that you march to the beat of your own drum, finding your way and learning your lessons, no matter how much “knowledge” I try to impart upon you.

W00T! Geek Movie Weekend!
Ever since we saw the trailer, the entire Geek household has been anxiously awaiting the release of Shane Acker’s animated movie, 9. It appears to be dark, visually stunning and thought-provoking. Awesome! An animated flick that isn’t all Disney and shnizit! Not that I have anything against Disney. It’s just nice to have some animation that isn’t targeted to the Pull-ups demographic.
I try not to read reviews before going to see movies. I find that most critics don’t get it, often being too snooty or trying to make every movie into Driving Miss Daisy – the last movie they truly loved. </snark> I did skim the reviews this morning and based on what I read, this is going to be a great flick although it is clearly not for young children. It is rated PG-13 for the violence and strong imagery that may be disturbing for children under 11.
In case you haven’t heard about 9, check out the trailer.
